Texting While Driving Statistics [Infographic]

Who is driving while texting? Over half of teenage drivers admit to texting or emailing while driving. But they’re not alone. 16.4 percent of 20-24 year olds admit to texting and driving on a regular basis, while 45.1 percent say they text and drive some of the time. Most surprising are the 25-34 age bracket in which 14.1 percent agree to texting and driving fairly often, 38.7 percent admit to doing it some of the time.

1. Nineteen states and the District of Columbia now ban text messaging for all drivers. Another nine prohibit messaging by novice drivers.

2. You are 4 times more likely to cause an accident while driving drunk or talking on a cell phone. You are 8 times more likely to cause an accident while texting!

What more can we do to curb this fatal habit?
