Daily Deals to Come to Your Car

I don’t know about you, but I subscribe to Groupon and LivingSocial to receive special offers to some of my favorite restaurants and retail stores in St. Louis.  Most of these sales and promotions are typically sent to my phone or email, but today Ford Motor Company and  app-maker ROXIMITY have teamed up to bring these types of local discounts to vehicles. So, whether you want to know where the best deals are for pizza, an oil change (besides Lebanon Ford), or women’s shoes, you will never drive past a sale again!

What Is ROXIMITY?

ROXIMITY is a real-time, location-aware alert service that lets users know of surrounding deals and specials. The app, which is available for iOS devices, offers this functionality in the car through SYNC AppLink, Ford’s hands-free, voice-controlled mobile connectivity technology. It is first program to have Ford AppLink compatibility at launch.

How It Works

ROXIMITY delivers information to motorists about nearby sales based on location and user preferences. When drivers connect their phone to SYNC via USB and activate AppLink, they can verbally ask ROXIMITY for special deals within specific retail categories. SYNC AppLink integration will then provide motorists with a list of nearby sales based on the criteria searched.  The voice commands and features include “Find Nearby Deal,” “Call Retailer,” and “List Deal Categories,” such as:

  1. Restaurants
  2. Auto Services
  3. Spa and Salon
  4.  Entertainment
  5. Health and Fitness
  6. Sports Events
  7. Men’s Clothing
  8. Concerts
  9. Women’s Clothing
  10. Breakfast, Food and Grocery
  11. Lunch
  12. Bars and Clubs
  13. Dinner
  14. Treats
  15. Late Night
  16. Home Services

ROXIMITY’s integration with Ford SYNC

ROXIMITY is now available for download in the App Store for iOS devices and users can register for the service here. A version for Android devices is in development.
